St. Louis, Instagrammed

A few weeks ago, I wrote about St. Louis, Revealed. Today, I will portrait St. Louis through Instagram lens. Instagram has been on everyone’s radar lately, and I could not help but try it out too. While it will never replace traditional photography and the qualities of DSLRs, there is something to be said for its creative filters. In any case, I had fun walking the streets of St. Louis with my Instagram app, and I hope you will enjoy the results!

I live in a lovely Central West End neighborhood. Quiet tree-lined streets, restaurants, shops, fountains, parks, and sometimes… jugglers!

I picked this area for its abundance of great restaurants. Any day and time of the week you can find: tomato bisque…

…beautifully fresh mozarella caprese…

…and melanzane con ricotta (grilled eggplant) that melts in your mouth…

You can also find an alternate reality in every glass of wine!

Moving on to Grand: an eclectic neighborhood where you can catch the latest show worthy of Broadway…

… or meditate with the Earth Bunny…

Sometimes with a bit more time and attention you can see wonderful things in the mundane. It is so easy to walk past the dead bug on the road without ever noticing its beautiful wings.

Good things about St. Louis? It is situated  near many worthy locales. Pastoral countryside is just a short drive away from the city…

Broad shores of the Mississippi river; Grafton, Illinois.

Flowers, trees, skies come together for a perfect moment!

Back to civilization… St. Louis has a prominent restaurant scene with many ethnic cuisines to choose from. Bosnian food, anyone?

For lunch: Ukrainian beer…

… and Hungarian goulash…

If you crave for something more exotic, Vietnamese chefs have it covered…

After dinner, take a stroll down the street for refreshing gelato…

Bustling food scene, welcoming neighborhoods, and lovely trees – this is St. Louis! The city has grown on me like a good old friend, and like a good old friend, it will be missed.

    • Thank you Asifa! It’s funny you mentioned Marigold (I did not know it was the name of that flower). I just saw a movie last night – Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which was shot in Jaipur – very lovely movie!
