Something happens to the city in the spring. After dull and boring winter, it suddenly awakens from its slumber and proclaims its beauty to the world. Every flower on the street polishes its petals and presents itself in the most spectacular way, because every flower on the street wants to be loved…
Just like my city, St. Louis, I awoke one morning to realize that the bloom is here. With a latte in one hand, and a DSLR in the other, I walked the streets all day in search of the perfect flower. Here is what I found:
The sunny dandelion greets me first…
The daffodils are next, looking up to the tree as if it were their mother
Bright forsythia soaking up the sun, lighting up my soul
Cherry takes the center stage on most streets…
…but no spring is complete without tulips!
Azalea is bathing in the dew before the day starts…
Daisies perk up their petals, looking for passers-by, vying for their attention
Meet Cherry Pink, the beautiful leading lady in today’s expo!
The elm blossom decides to wear green in hopes to attract spectators with its unique colors
Alder catches on to this strategy and follows suit…
Meet Tulip, a bashful maiden
Zephyranthes are longing for admirers too
Daffodils are blowing their own horn: “Look at me! Look at me!”
This white beauty seems to be lost in her self-admiration… After all, she is a Narcissus!
Stunning tulip, proud and impregnable
Daisies, on the other hand, are always cordial
It pays to be friendly – you might just attract loud and rambunctious visitors!
Azalea in love
No-nonsense dogwood blossom
Hyacinth – the flower of jealousy
Beautiful stranger
What is your name, bizarre creature? – I am Devil’s Tongue!
Extravagant orchids…
…each one more dazzling…
… and resplendent than the other
Sensual portulaca draws me in… Feast for my eyes and rest for my feet at last…
After my very rigid search, I realized – the perfect flower is the one that livens up the gloomiest of places… Which one did you like most?

Madame All of them looks nice, but my top pick is the tulip and the jealousy flora. Thanks for sharing Nonoy Manga
Thank you Nonoy – I also loved the tulips, they are such great models to photograph!
love this post. So much beauty out there to enjoy. Nature most certainly Nurtures us. reminds me of my own search for new flowers when Spring first showed its face here in Israel, some time back. I also found as many flowers as I could to photograph and in the end decided that each is perfect in it’s own uniqueness.

What a beautiful way to start the week, Yulia. Thank you.
Thank you Tricia for your kind words
Looking forward to read your digest
Yulia, those are absolutely gorgeous pictures. I took a short break from working to check out new posts and it made me feel like I took a refreshing walk! Thank you!
Awesome! I am glad I could help you take a little break! Thank you for your support! I have been thinking about you this weekend – getting all the ingredients to make paneer (have to find a cheesecloth somewhere, and then I am set!)
Oh do tell me how it turns out for you!
All of the flowers are gorgeous, but the two-toned tulips really take the cake!
Thank you Laurie
My favorite was the portulaca (or I guess they also called it moss-rose), but the tulips are right behind
Exquisite!
Thank you Sharifah!
Such lovely images….bringing sushine to us all!
Thanks Stan – we need more of it in the world!
